Eighth Hadith: Prejudice (‘Asabiyyah)

Muhammad ibn Ya’qub (al-Kulayni), from ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from al-Nawfali, from al-Sakuni, who reports on the authority of Abu ‘Abd Allah (Imam al-Sadiq ) (A) that the Prophet (S) said, “Whosoever possesses in his heart ‘asabiyyah (prejudice in any of its forms such as tribalism, racism, nationalism) even to the extent of a mustard seed, God will raise him on the Day of Resurrection with the (pagan) Bedouins of the Jahiliyyah (the pre-Islamic era).”

Bismilahir Rahmanir Rahim
In the name of Allah the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
As salamu alaikum wa rahmatulahi wa barakatu
May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be with you

I have often wondered why in 2015, I still encounter "Muslims" who are baffled by the notion of indigenous American Muslims, specifically persons of color.   As I have chosen educator as my occupation I am going to try to rectify that situation and collect and share resources so that haqq (truth) wins out over excuses.  You need not trust me, only your brain and the fitrah (primordial human nature, instinct), which will lead you to Allah (swt)’s undeniable truth. That is the sole purpose of this blog. May Allah protect me from bringing forth untruth and make me successful in bringing truth to light.

What is the Shiite ultra-minority you ask? For me it is what I see in the mirror, the African-descended (encompasses African Americans), multi-ethnic, indigenous (Five or more generations) Shiite of America.

I am the granddaughter of a Klansman and a Native American and Caucasian woman. I am also the granddaughter of African Americans whose ancestors were enslaved in the United States of America. I am a convert to Islam, but I believe I was born Muslim.  I am a lover of the Ahlul bayt and a seeker of truth.
